Healthy Eating The Supplement Bridge

Eating healthily can and is a tricky situation once you have decided to take this option. If you look too far ahead in the future it will may look like too much of a daunting task. This may be the first obstacle before you have even started to cause you to go back to your old unhealthy eating habits. Not knowing what to eat and what is suitable for you is another hurdle to trip you up in your quest to eating healthy. The perception of healthy food being boring and tasteless is another reason to give up early. The thought of giving up your favourite foods is yet another powerful reason why your healthy eating may lead to failure. There are many other reasons and excuses I could site here .

The first thing to do is to first not look too far ahead in the future and take one step at a time . That is to actually start simple with healthy foods you currently like . Like fresh fruit for instance. Also to be honest with yourself about why you want to change your eating habits what are the positive affects to you and the people around you . Everyone will have different reasons but look for the ones that are personal to you. It is easy to look just at the outside physical appearance or wanting to fit into a bikini in the summer . Maybe try thinking of the internal affects of how it may affect your mood your mindset your energy levels . The quality of your life . For the foreseeable future .

                                                           

Remember also that this is a life long lifestyle change and you will fall off the wagon from time to time . When this happens do not be hard on yourself . Remind yourself that this is life long and so has to be sustainable and enjoyable. Acknowledge that you have erred and step by step get back on the wagon . Be kind to yourself .

Be open and experiment, there is more to healthy eating than just salads . The world has many cultures that are vegetarian or have healthy dishes . Try looking what some of their meals consist of . You may not be able to get all the ingredients or they may be out of your price range but you can find similar or alternatives that may be suitable . Again you may meet with a few disasters but with perseverance you will get there . You may even stumble across a diamond or diamonds.


Will power alone will not work. You have to make healthy eating a habit just as your unhealthy eating is a habit. If you try to use will power alone you will have periods when you are tired from a hard day at work or stressed for some other reason and this will cause you to sink back to old ways. Remember you old habits happened over a period of time you your new healthy habits will also take time to take hold and become automatic.

In the beginning without careful planning your diet may be lacking in certain vitamins and minerals protein such as vitamin B12, vitamin D , calcium , iron, zinc and omega 3 fatty acids. A nutritionist can help you in the beginning with a diet/meal planner which is a good idea in absence of this you can use high quality plant based meal shakes and protein powers which will supplement and lack of nutritional content in your diet . You can slowly reduce the need for supplements once you gain a better understanding of you new healthy diet and way of life.

In no way should supplements be a permanent replacement for fresh whole foods. They will boost the nutritional content of a diet in a way that is quick, easy and convenient. They can help you to ensure that you are getting all of the protein, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that you need on a daily basis. You can then slowly reduce the use of them once you gain a better understanding of you new healthy diet.

Incorporate your healthy diet with exercise and good hydration which means drinking water and you are on your way to a healthy outlook. The first step you can take is maybe to have a healthy breakfast . Next time we will look at some ways and recipes that can help.
