Healthy Breakfast Supplement Bridge

A good way to get on the right road to a healthy diet / lifestyle is to start the day correctly . This means having a healthy breakfast which will give you the energy you need to start the day and help concentration. Studies show that having a healthy breakfast which s high in nutrients , vitamins and minerals also also helps with weight control your mood and can lower cholesterol levels. In living a busy life it is easy to forget breakfast while you are busying yourself getting ready or assisting others to get ready if you are a parent . Then running out the door without breakfast or just as bad a sugary snack or pastry. This habit will give you a surge of energy followed by a crash later in the day which then weakens your intentions to eat healthily by making your reach for a quick unhealthy snacks later in the day.


                                                                          

Therefore eating a healthy breakfast to include whole grains or whole foods and protein not only sustains you by making you feel fuller for longer it also gives you the ability to make better and more beneficial choices of what you have for lunch or other meals during the day .

So the first step is to be aware that mornings can be hectic and so be prepared and choose the simplest foods in the mornings. Quickest to prepare and there is nothing more simple than Porridge/Oatmeal . You can buy this quite cheaply in shops and supermarkets you can then add ingredients to give you the nutrients as well as the feeling of being satisfied until lunch time. Some products already have berries or nuts added in . However you have to remember the sugar content in pre packed porridge/oatmeal . It is just as easy to add your own ingredients which you know and to your taste. Just an idea for a recipe is :


                                                                                 


Oats ( whole grain ), berries i.e . blueberries , diced apples, dried fruit , flax seeds , chia seeds and crushes mixed nut . If you need a bit of sweetness maybe a drop of honey. You can include or milk or soya or almond milk . Or you can use water if you are lactose intolerant, you can then add in protein meal replacement shake .Then microwave or heat in pan the old fashion way. Breakfast done.

  In this breakfast you have whole grain oats which is a slow acting carbohydrate to leave you feeling fuller for longer . You have anti oxidants from the fruit , you have omega 3 fats from the seeds and protein from the milk or the meal replacement shake. Can't get much better than that . Or maybe you can by having a smoothie. You can be very creative and and have a lot of fun with smoothies. Try and remember to include ingredients that have a nutritional benefit . i.e. carbs , omega 3,6,9 , anti oxidants . Here is an example of a smoothie recipe:

Milk , or Soya milk ,or water if you are lactose intolerant, berries , banana , peanut butter ( if you are not allergic ) spinach , avocado , protein meal replacement powder.
 Mix in blender or Smoothie maker and there you are.

These are just 2 ideas you can research and experiment with other ideas and recipes . This has to become a good habit and sustainable so variety is key as well as a exercise routine at some point in the day. Your health is your wealth , be kind to yourself . A poor diet or lifestyle can and does affect your mood so remember those you love you and care for you. You being good to yourself is also being good to them as they will see the best of you. Which in turn brings out the best in them . A win win situation in my book.
